The ES Logistics and 3PL Lead will be responsible to plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of projects related to the transition of ES processes to 3PL, focused on Service Logistics Center operations and inventory transfer of ownership. This Project Manager will work closely with the 3PL and ES leadership to ensure that each project is on schedule, within scope, and on budget. Critical to success of the Project Manager is detailed planning, proactive communication, and persistent monitoring of the execution of deliverables under the responsibility of all project resources to include internal functional area owners, the 3PL, and external contractors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This position will be responsible applying the Lean/Continuous Improvement tools to our Logistics and 3PL support across all Value Streams, Sites, and Supply Chain.

  • Responsible for planning and leading projects/events, demonstrating successful implementations via presentations, and training employees on the tools and processes.

  • Regular tasks will include data analysis and reporting, interaction with several groups across the business (requiring excellent communication skills), and root-cause analysis.

  • Develop and track appropriate logistics, 3PL and freight spend metrics to drive results and continuous improvement.

  • Clear understanding of all phases of the project implementation schedule, to include the core deliverables for each functional area.

  • Align input from UTAS, ES and 3PLs to ensure the Project Scope is clearly captured.

  • Create a detailed task list (Project Schedule) with milestones and critical path tasks to ensure no deliverables or dependencies are overlooked, to include both internal tasks and those of the 3PL and contractors.

  • Communicate the Project Scope and Schedule to all project resources and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and agreement.

  • Hold team members, contractors, et al. accountable to completion of deliverables pursuant to the task list and dates.

  • Manage project budget, scope, and timeline through proactive and effective communication including change control with appropriate approval.

  • Lead regular status meetings with the project team to capture updates, next steps, and risks/mitigation.

  • Facilitate small-groups for topics requiring more detailed discussion.

  • Escalate issues/risks appropriately to Manager and Project Sponsor.

  • Lead Steering Committee updates covering executive level status, budget, and risks.

  • Plan and effectively manage transition from project execution to stable operations.

  • Ensure appropriate business support and seamless transfer of ownership at project completion.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Materials and/or Supply Chain management experience.

  • Extensive ERP knowledge.

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project & Visio.

  • Warehouse Management System(s).

  • PMP or other formal project management training.

  • Experience in 3PL environment.

  • Experience in a lean manufacturing operations environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience including cross-discipline collaboration.

  • Experience presenting to senior level executives.

  • Solid work ethic with a focus on collaboration to drive business results.

  • Implementation of Lean principles, tools and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in change leadership and change management.

  • Business analytics experience with demonstrated analytical skills.

  • Highly skilled in utilizing data based problem solving methodologies to identify root cause and define solutions.

  • Knowledge of ACE and Lean principles, tools and processes.

  • Typically warehouse work environment but could include manufacturing and transportation locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Logistics/Warehousing Industry experience a plus.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in ERP systems, SAP and SAP IBP preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Business, Finance, Accounting or Supply Chain Management discipline preferred) with 10+ years of experience required.

  • Change Leadership certification, training and experience required.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt, Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Certification.
