Join our dynamic Summer Engineering Project Program (SEPP) team working on next-generation flight technologies! At our Portland, OR location we work with airborne camera systems to help aircraft land in extremely poor visibility. For that purpose we use "cameras" (really: sensor systems) operating throughout the electromagnetic spectrum, and process imagery from those sensors in innovative and compute-intensive ways.
In Summer of 2020 we will work with experimental hardware for a couple of candidate radar systems in support enhanced vision operations in low visibility or autonomous aircraft and rotorcraft operations.
We are looking to interface these radars to processing systems that receive, analyze and visualize the data using state of the art SoC computers. You are a creative, self motivated and driven problem solver who will independently write the signal and data processing code that will visualize data from these systems for presentation - in real time - to a pilot.
Experience with System on Chip programming (e.g. NVIDIA Xavier) would be extremely valuable to this project including the ability to program (C/C++, GPU, OpenGL, OpenCL etc.) and design simple mechanical retainers and mounts (for 3D Printing) would also be desirable.
This is a very fast paced project and likely a steep learning curve, as we plan to fly operational configurations of these systems as the project progresses. You will work closely with your team members to extract value from the data generated by the radar systems. Close coordination and team work will be required, having fun doing this will be necessary. Skills and experience that will help you accomplish this task:
C/C++ programming, GPU programming, Linux
familiarity with NVIDIA Xavier System on Chip or similar SoC hardware
familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System)
desire to extract the last bit of signal from a lot of clutter using tools such as MATLAB etc. (for modeling and rapid development before implementation into real time systems)
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
Requires US citizenship or permanent residence (green card).
