Description:

This is a full time EH&S position. The EH&S Pilot reports directly to the Pratt & Whitney Engine Services (P&WES) Regional Service Center Network (RSCN) EH&S Manager. The EH&S Pilot is responsible for ensuring that the BTV Facility complies with all aspects of Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations relating to the environment, health & safety. Additionally, the pilot will ensure that all aspects of the UTC, P&W and P&WC EH&S Policy are complied with in a timely, professional and accurate manner. The Pilot will work closely with the RSCN EH&S Coordinator to ensure compliance at all levels. The Pilot will assist the EH&S Coordinator with projects, audits and inspections as required and necessary. Additionally, the EH&S Pilot will act as the BTV Facility Coordinator for all aspects of facility maintenance, projects and EH&S.

Additional duties would include, but are not limited to:

Compliance

  • Ensure all Federal, State and local requirements are met on a timely basis in line with the scheduled dates

  • Report all incidents, accidents, limit exceedance or non-compliance in line with established company policies and procedures

  • Act as the lead person in EH&S investigations and DIVES ensuring corrective actions are fully implemented

  • Maintain BTV’s UTC EH&S Reporting System to ensure accuracy and that all targets are met on time

  • Ensure the monthly Tier 1 inspection is performed and that all actions are closed in a timely manner

  • Lead the Near Miss Team and ensure all Near Misses are recorded and responses put in place in a timely manner

  • Maintain BTV’s EH&S files

  • Review and update the P&WC EH&S Desk on a weekly basis

  • Ensure inspections and audits are performed in line with established schedules and all actions are closed out in line with established schedules

  • Ensure annual drills are performed in line with established time tables

Training

  • Become the Approved Trainer for EH&S training within the BTV facility

  • Work with EH&S Coordinator to ensure annual training plan is set and completed on time

  • Review and track all BTV personnel to ensure everyone is fully trained

  • Ensure BTV is fully trained on HazMat shipping and manifesting

Control

  • Manage on-going EH&S projects and all aspects of BTV facility projects

  • Ensure EMOCS are completed for all new products, projects, tooling and equipment

  • Ensure HRAs are up to date, posted and training provided where required

Some EH&S experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

The following requirements apply to this position

  • Must be willing to travel and work extended hours.

  • Weekend coverage occasionally required.

  • Hours of work will be from 8:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday

Education: Applicants must possess an Associate Degree or higher. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, team oriented, have a positive attitude with proven interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail oriented as the position demands accuracy and thoroughness. Must be able to plan and arrange work schedule to fit day to day requirements with minimal supervision. Proficient in MS Office, Lotus Notes and data base software.
