Description:

Role Overview:

  • This position is for a Senior Lead / Lead Stress Engineering professional with deep knowledge and highly developed structural engineering expertise.

  • Works independently, provides technical guidance to junior engineers, makes recommendations to management and works on standardization to improve turnaround times.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Perform repair stress analysis and develop analytical methods for complex technical issues requiring creativity and ingenuity in supporting airline operational requirements, formal certification reports, and design changes

  • Should be able to make quick engineering judgments and perform margin explorations for repair solutions based on certification analysis, on various nacelle components for different programs

  • Apply advanced structural analysis principles to support repair design development on metallic and composite structures.

  • Prepare RAS/8110-3 documents including substantiating analysis and obtain/coordinate sign-off with Airworthiness organization

  • Direct communication with Airline customers for rapidly development and approval of technical solutions.

  • Work with Airframers, Engine Manufacturers and Suppliers as necessary, to evaluate repair technical data.

  • Work with Spares Sales, Airline/Field Support Managers in resolving Customer issues

  • Comply with all US export control requirements

Requirements:

Required Skills:

  • Detailed understanding of aircraft/nacelle structural components

  • Detailed knowledge of maintenance and repair practices used in the aerospace industry

  • Thorough understanding of load path, load balance, free body diagram and experience in classical hand analysis methods as well as advanced FE used in Aerospace structural analysis

  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and mastery in technical understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry.

  • Basic understanding of static and fatigue analyses of metallic and composite structures.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with time-constraint handling multiple repair tasks

  • Experience in MRB and MRO repairs preferred

  • Ability to communicate well with internal and external customers and be driven to achieve customer satisfaction.

  • Must be willing to mentor other engineers and lead team in the generation of standard work

  • Ability to work with all levels of aftermarket, engineering, and management personnel.

  • Effective team player as a part of global aftermarket team and share weekend/holidays support on rotation basis to meet commitment to customers.

  • Possess strong sense of ownership, Foster a continuous improvement and quality culture.

  • Possess excellent technical writing and PC skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Patran/Nastran (Sol 101, 106, 111).

  • Knowledge in Automation (Excel VBA & Visual Basic applications) preferred

  • Detailed understanding of aircraft/nacelle structural components

  • Familiarity on specialty manufacturing processes for aerospace components

  • Experience in SRM development, ADLs, MRB teams is preferred.

  • Knowledge of UTC ACE Operating System

Qualifications:

Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering with 8 to 12 years of experience in similar role.
