UTC Aerospace Systems in Union, WV has an exciting opportunity for a HR intern for the summer of 2019. This position will have the opportunity to work with the administration of the Labor Relations process, as well as a variety of other HR competencies, including Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Investigations, Creation of Standard Work, and Employee Engagement Partner with Operations leaders to develop a training regimen for Hourly Bargaining Unit Supervisors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Employee and Labor Relations training

  • Attendance and Time Keeping training

  • The Family Medical Leave Act training

  • Discipline training

  • Product Training

  • Interviewing Practices training

  • Assist in administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

  • Participation and over site of the entire Grievance Procedure

  • Arbitration Preparation

  • Local Benefits Administration

  • Assist in administration of all Leaves of Absence pertaining to the Family Medical Leave Act, the Attendance program, and Sick Leave

  • Support employee engagement activities for both salaried and hourly bargaining unit employees

  • Conduct Investigations

  • Assist in site communications

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or Business Administration or related fields.

  • Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Must completed 30 hours of college coursework have

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent Organizational skills

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear, actionable goals

  • Fluency in the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Interest in Labor Relations

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Previous HR experience a plus

Education:

  • Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or Business Administration or related fields.
