Role Overview

We have an immediate opening for a seasoned professional demonstrating a unique combination of technical, business development and entrepreneurial skills to fill the role of Senior Staff Sales Engineer supporting our military Landing Systems products. We’re looking for a high-energy, independent, self-starter with a widely-diverse skill-set who is at-ease performing both effective formal and informal customer interactions and business development, while demonstrating in-depth technical product design and capability knowledge to solve customer operational and maintainability issues.

In order to ensure customer satisfaction and develop and establish ongoing customer relationships, domestic and international travel is necessary and required approximately 25% of the time. International cultural awareness and successful experience effectively interacting and communicating with a diverse global customer base is considered a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Product Support / Technical

  • Identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customer personnel who are influential in setting requirements

  • Provides daily product, service or equipment technical and engineering information on our military and helicopter programs

  • Solves customer’s technical issues

  • Contributes to our engineering design effectiveness by identifying short- and long-term issues that must be addressed, and provides information and commentary pertinent to these deliberations while recommending options and courses of action

  • Develops customer’s knowledge base by providing technical information and training

  • Interprets customer requirements and conveys to Program Management teams

  • Liaisons with other members of internal technical teams on customer issues and concerns to determine root cause and develop appropriate corrective actions

  • Provides vital input into the design of new products to ensure customer requirements are met

  • Conducts Voice of the Customer (VOC) sessions

  • Responds to functional and technical elements of customer Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Quotation (RFQs)

  • Introduces product improvements and monitors implementation

  • Assists with investigations on field-returned products

  • Interfaces with internal and external Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities performing service on our products

  • Participates in all phases of product development, qualification, flight test, fielding and through-life support as a technical member of our New Product Introduction (NPI) teams

  • Provides on-site, hands-on product maintenance and operational training, as required

  • Business Development / Sales

  • Establishes new and lasting customer relationships, while maintaining deep bonds with existing customers

  • Gains customer acceptance by explaining and demonstrating how our products reduce cost of operation and improve safety, while improving operational capability

  • Visits potential and current domestic and international customers

  • Attends trade shows, seminars, conferences and other business development and marketing opportunities in order to demonstrate our product features and benefits to potential new customers

  • Key participant in achieving divisional sales and income goals

  • Develops and delivers product demonstrations to potential customers

  • Actively seeks out new business development opportunities to help ensure positive market segment growth

  • Monitors, assists and interfaces with our domestic and international distributors and resellers to ensure their proper market focus, as well as our commercial requirements flow-downs are met

  • Represents Landing Systems with our cross-business unit Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team

  • Interfaces with our domestic and international Non-employee Sales Representatives (NSRs)

  • Advocates for the customer in our internal decision-making processes on both technical and commercial matters


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors: Technical degree- Engineering, Aeronautics, Aerospace, Sales and 10 years

Advanced MBA, MS, and 7 years.

14 years relevant- aircraft systems, mechanical systems, comfortable addressing people business development.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years experience or an Advanced degree and 7 years of experience. Or 14 years relevant- aircraft systems, mechanical systems, comfortable addressing people business development.
