Specialist, Materials Management

This position is for a materials planning and production control professional who is responsible for documenting and improving upon existing processes and systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, documentation, communication and deployment of standard best practice materials management policies, processes and procedures across all Landing Systems sites

  • Ensures policies and procedures are implemented and maintained in a consistent and standardized approach as well as ensure that all projects are implemented, by site, per agreed upon roll-out plan / schedule.

  • Responsible for development of all materials management training within their area of responsibility as well as on-going required training to empower site personnel to successfully implement standard policies, procedures and projects

  • Develop, maintain, measure and track Landing Systems and site materials management initiatives and adherence to and improvement of any tools.

  • Responsible for implementing, tracking, measuring and reporting all required site and Landing Systems key performance metrics in the areas of materials management, logistics and SIOP

Duties and Functional Responsibilities

  • Manage key business processes in the following areas

  • Master scheduling and production control processes Receiving, shipping and warehousing WIP control, WIP aging 3PL, VMI, Kitting Other business processes as needed

  • Ensure standard policies, processes and procedures are developed, documented and deployed, by site, to established standards across all Landing Systems sites in the areas of materials management.

  • Ensure standard company audit results are reviewed and action plans established to improve are developed with site Materials Managers, track and report progress

  • Track and report key site and rolled up performance indicators and proactively identify appropriate actions to close gaps and to drive continuous improvement

  • Ensure site level SJIs are developed and implemented to support company standard procedures and or local procedures

  • Support the Landing Systems SIOP processes

  • Support achievement of ACE Gold activities, as required

  • Initiate and / or participate in site level activities to include 5S, Kaizen, DIVE events, Six Sigma, and other related continuous improvement events as well as prioritize site level events

  • Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the EHS policy and management system, the importance of conforming to EHS policies and procedures and consequences of failing to comply with EHS policies and procedures.

  • Continuously drive a lean culture within the materials organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a working knowledge of basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Software (i.e. Excel, Word, Access) as well as Business Intelligence software or the ability to attain such skills.

  • Working knowledge and ERP experience is a must (SAP is preferred) to include MRO/Materials and Supply Chain

  • Proficient problem solving ability and attention to detail.

  • Requires the ability to read English and write descriptive statements.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication, team building skills, and ability to lead cross functionally

  • Ability to travel as much as 40% of the time.

Education:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • APICS certification preferred (CPIM, CSCP)
