United Technology Aerospace Systems - Landing Systems Business Unit headquartered in Troy, Ohio designs, tests and manufactures a wide range of fully integrated landing systems for major Aerospace platforms. Our innovative solutions include lighter-weight, high-strength materials; more electric technologies; DURACARB® carbon friction material; EDL® extended life configurations; and innovative gear and wheel design. We have an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer II at our Troy location:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assure processes, including equipment, fixture designs and fixtures, routings, CNC Programming, tooling, and standard work in support of the following processes: Machining, Anodize, Chemical Etch, Aluminum Conversion Coating, Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Waste Water Treatment, and Shot Peen.

  • Continuously improve quality and productivity using the Ace Operating System for products and processes including compliance to these processes.

  • Specify, justify, and install capital projects in support of production requirements.

  • Identify and implement cost savings as related to direct and indirect labor savings, and expense account budgets.

  • Ability to lead activities related to compliance audits including AS9100, NADCAP, etc.

  • Provide technical support for serving as liaison between Value Streams, Quality Assurance, EH&S and Design Engineering.

  • Coordinate with Materials and Process Engineering for technology development in production processes that meet compliance requirements like NADCAP, REACH and corporate EH&S initiatives.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with absolute minimum 3 years’ experience supporting manufacturing operations,

  • Proven record of continuous improvement projects while embracing the daily use of lean tools in a team environment.

  • Intermediate user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including MS Project.

  • Experience with the following is preferred:

  • Management of large capital projects including new processing lines.

  • Experience with automated chemical processing systems including PLCs, Allen Bradley is preferred.

  • Design and fabrication experience of fixtures, tooling and shop aids for manufacturing processing.

  • Experience with automated shotpeen systems.

  • Purchase of capital equipment.

  • Cost Analysis, Budget Preparation and Budget Management.

  • AS9100 and NADCAP Audit experience preferred

  • Engineering activities driving failure analysis, process specifications preparation, development of hazardous materials replacement in processes strongly preferred.

  • Experience with mathematical functions and macro programming in MS Excel is preferred.

  • Master’s degrees in this area are strongly preferred.
