United Technologies Marine Solutions

Several of our companies at United Technologies have been suppliers to the international maritime and offshore industries for decades, and by coordinating our activities under one marine umbrella we are able to utilize our latest technology and offer a wide portfolio of marine solutions, services and expertise to ship builders, ship owners and operators worldwide. Carrier Marine & Offshore Systems is responsible for providing air conditioning products and systems from cruise ships to fishing boats and offshore drilling platforms to oil tankers.

We are looking for a Marine Sales Manager to support the Marine Sales team. The position will be based out of Syracuse, New York, but could be based out of Houston, Texas or Ft. Lauderdale, Florida or Charlotte, North Carolina as well. There is approximately 40% travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve annual sales, gross margin and market share targets for Marine finished goods/equipment/system sales

  • Manage and grow business through existing and new accounts by building solid long term relationships, promoting Carrier’s products, attending trade shows and marketing events, etc.

  • Responsible for reviewing customer specifications and recommending solutions; develop and execute sales proposals, contracts

  • Develop and influence growth strategies to target business via non-traditional channels; aggressively pursue new market segments to expand direct business

  • Develop internal expertise to position Carrier as premier solution provider; provide product and system expertise within key vertical markets

  • Develop long term relationships and build partnerships with the customer; provide customers with superior value and service

  • Work with internal Carrier departments for product, control and system solutions

  • Management of the relationship with Marine Dealer channel; develop and influence channel growth strategies

  • Daily duties include executing quotes, follow-up and close work with customers, handle post-sale submittal and order entry work, assist with project management duties, accounts receivable responsibilities

Qualification:

  • 5+ years HVAC industry experience in professional sales or marketing positions of increasing responsibility

  • Strong HVAC experience and knowledge of HVAC systems and design

  • Fully developed professional able to work without direction or guidance from others

  • Sense of urgency, self-initiative, commitment and sense of ownership is a must

  • Superior follow-up and follow-through skills

  • Team-oriented, ability to create strong internal relationships, and ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills, presentation and written

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent problem solving and advanced analytical skills

  • Sales Management experience is preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and QuoteBuilder, SAP/HVAC Partners; knowledge of HVAC design and application tools

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/or higher preferred
