The Accounting Supervisor will report directly to an Accounting Manager in the General Accounting Shared Services team. This position will ensure a timely and accurate monthly financial close in accordance with our published calendar and documented procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise 3 accounting professionals who are mainly responsible for Joint Venture Accounting, Holding Companies, Group Insurance and other allocations, Environmental Reserves, Royalty & R&D, Accounts Payable Accruals, Headcount, etc.

  • Assist with the month-end financial statement closing process including reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations related to your applicable accounting areas.

  • Support World Headquarters (WHQ) by managing the general ledger as well as month end close reporting including booking of HFM journal entries and verifying supplemental reporting

  • Prepare quarterly WHQ Balance Sheet fluctuation analysis

  • Manage quarterly and year-end federal tax reporting in Longview software, as well as the State tax reporting

  • Manage the reporting requirements and process for our SEC disclosures in the e-collect software

  • Work with business unit controllers and other functional personnel to accomplish company, business unit and/or departmental goals and objectives.

  • Directly participate in the development and coaching of department employees to ensure organizational accomplishment and individual objectives.

  • Review and update Sarbanes Oxley documentation and coordinate the performance of SOX testing, as required.

  • Actively lead and participate in special projects as requested.

TYPICAL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 4 – 7+ years of relevant finance/accounting experience

  • Master’s degree in Accounting with 2 - 5+ years of relevant finance/accounting experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and deep understanding of US GAAP

  • Experience in handling and analyzing large amounts of data and drawing meaningful conclusions

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with strong adaptability given occasional late evenings, weekends and tight reporting deadlines particularly at quarter and year-end

  • Ability to drive and lead process improvement opportunities

  • Minimal supervision required

  • Knowledge of SAP and HFM preferred

  • CPA with public or large private accounting environment preferred
