This position is on a team implementing and executing a long term business agreement focused on reducing the cost of engine ownership and improving production support with United Air Lines through a streamlined parts delivery, parts repair, and engine maintenance support program.

You will assist in performing and improving processes that maximize part flow within Pratt & Whitney’s warehouse to and from the repair units while capturing repair development or other cost saving opportunities.

As part of the Technical Management team, the PW4000 Technical Manager will share responsibility for managing engine and part reliability/durability and maintenance cost, achieving reliability targets through fleet management and meeting customer commitments.

Drive continuous improvement of the business processes, and improve organizational efficiency using ACE principles and tools.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with United Airlines warehouse & inspection personnel to disposition and resolve part quality problems.

  • Implementing and improving engine reliability as well as overseeing the proper execution of on-wing and off-wing engine maintenance programs.

  • Work closely with United Airlines engine overhaul shop personnel and monitor engines/program hardware during the engine overhaul visit to ensure correct root cause documentation for event engines and proper assembly procedures for all engines

  • Perform part scrap and repair data analysis, document part distress modes, and identify possible cost saving and repair development opportunities. This will include working closely with repair units and United Airlines to understand trending distress modes and predicting future repairability of parts.

  • Continuous Improvement activity including trending of QCPC data in conjunction with warehouse manager to ensure root cause and corrective actions for parts and processes

  • Assisting the technical management team to monitor and document part distress modes, and identify possible cost saving and repair development opportunities.

  • Working with the customer and utilizing operational tools, assist the team in reviewing/authorizing use of modified technical data, forecasting shop visits and parts requirements, determining and authorizing the most cost effective engine work scopes and documenting engine events.

  • Must be a Citizen due to Government Contracts.

  • Minimum 3 years of professional work experience in a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering environment required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years knowledge of PW4000 jet engine operation and parts.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal and team building skills.

  • Process & methods engineering skills.

  • Ability to take on multiple tasks.

  • Strong commitment to learning, understanding and implementing the principles and tools to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to build good working relationships with Customer.

  • Strong Excel skills including ability to parse data to understand trends and create business cases

  • Familiarity with MS Access or similar database and how to query

  • BS degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or other technical discipline is required.
