RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify applicable regulatory compliance requirements for new products, create plans to obtain certifications

  • Work collaboratively with Hardware Engineers to understand initial requirements and any changes to product design as well as keep them apprised on certification status

  • Provide lab coordination and testing to achieve international compliance including LVD, REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Safety, and RED Directives, etc.

  • Assignments may include performing radio / RF characterization and antenna pattern studies, EMC/EMI analysis and testing, testing for product/intrinsic safety performance and design analysis

  • Determine budgets for regulatory compliance related items during project startup

  • Participate in design reviews and provide direction to development teams on product regulatory compliance

  • Prepare applications, associated documents, and coordinate regulatory certifications for new products intended for a global market

  • Manage and control documentation related to regulatory certifications

  • Monitor regulatory and compliance changes which effect the business and communicate those clearly, effectively and in a timely manner to the appropriate internal stakeholders

  • Train staff on Regulatory and Compliance topics where needed

  • Maintain current knowledge of state, national, and international regulation, guidance and standards applicable to company products

  • Communicate timelines and progress with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Other duties as assigned by your Manager

Qualification:

  • 8 years of engineering experience

  • 3+ years of regulatory compliance, preferably in electronics

  • Have experience working closely with testing laboratories, submitting products for global approvals, and following through to obtain certifications, including FCC, IC, CE, Taiwan NCC, Japan MIC, Brazil ANATEL, and Mexico IFETEL, etc.

  • Familiarity with RoHS2, REACH, WEEE, California Prop 65 and other state, national and international environmental requirements

  • Familiarity with various CE directives such as EMC, LVD, and RED

  • Experience writing technical documents and building technical construction files

  • Experience coordinating compliance testing with certification agencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ranging from technical reports to executive summaries

  • Knowledge of Lock, Hospitality, and Access control Industries and Relevant Industry Associations preferred

  • Experience working with non-US based teams and suppliers preferred; Sensitivity to cultural biases and understanding the communication practices needed to create successful partnerships in an open and supportive environment

Education:

  • 4 year degree in Engineering or Technology

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering or Technology preferred
