RESPONSIBILITIES:

Possesses good technical competence on all Building Systems and the ability to resolve or guide others through complex problem resolution. Customer interaction is in-depth and proactive to include a complete understanding of systems and the foresight to recommend and plan for enhancements.

Essential Functions:

  • Start up, commission, re-commission customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technology

  • Provides solutions to complex systems problems either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems; Works with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. --- Complete all required commissioning documentation; Maintains accurate As-Built drawing package and makes changes in Visio, Excel, Word, as required

  • Completes paperwork on-time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports

  • Responsible for total system operation from controllers to sensors, loading software, interfacing with third party systems, Sets up trends, alarms and reports and works with customer IT personnel, etc.. Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/ or a laptop computer

  • Performs static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming

  • Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system

  • Responsible for set up of operator workstations with all associated software

  • Responsible for performing job database backups on a daily basis or as advised

  • Assists with project turnover to the Service Department

  • Mentors and develops System Specialists on all engineering tools and technology; Serves as technical resource; May assist sales in development of cost estimate on semi-complex projects

  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site; Tracks and records job progress and keeps customer informed on progress; Reviews customer's systems and, if needed, points out areas of improvement and scope issues to project manager; Keeps project management apprised of customer concerns and issues

  • Adheres to safety standards; High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification:

  • Experience in dealing with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of many different disciplines

  • Possess and maintain valid and current Driver's License and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier

  • Willingness to travel in excess of 50 percent of typical workweek, including air travel, overnight hotel stays, and unexpected travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Field experience and a complete understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and Phoenix Controls

  • Experience with Automated Logic and Phoenix software to include: WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works

Physical Qualifications:

  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to provide direction and guidance to other team members

  • Must have thorough understanding of systems software to write or recommend modifications to logic as needed. JD-OPS-009

  • Able to create, download, and troubleshoot complex HVAC system logic using WebCTRL and associated software; Proficient with all WebCTRL software functions and utilities

  • Communicates issues with Project Manager on a timely basis

  • Proficient with all WebCTRL software functions and utilities

  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networks including wireless technology, including layout and troubleshooting

  • Must be well organized with good time management skills; This position requires excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment

  • Able to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

  • Able to read and understand Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints

  • Thorough experience with Microsoft software products to include: Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Windows products when required

  • Has an excellent working knowledge of Automated Logic hardware and software

  • Possesses an excellent understanding of the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences

  • Possess computer and networking skills to properly maintain their laptop as well as experience in the commissioning of Ethernet and ARC Net communications

  • Requires passion and dedication to providing the customer with innovative and superior building automation systems and outstanding customer service

  • Strong background in mechanical and HVAC system operation and design

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electronics, Computers, or 4 years' experience in the HVAC controls industry
