The Inspector will perform a variety of manual/administrative tasks (to include use of computer systems) associated with quality inspection of aerospace components and parts in accordance with established procedures
Inspect a variety of electronic components using proper inspection techniques
Utilize a variety of measuring and inspection instruments (e.g. micrometers, gauges and calipers)
Read, interpret and use a variety of quality policies, procedures, and other documentation (e.g. engineering prints, engineering changes, receiving inspection checklists, engineering standards, process instructions, quality procedures)
Verify all work order documentation for accuracy and completeness (e.g. shop notes, configuration summary sheet, travelers, rework, test data, system moves)
Perform visual and physical inspection of components and subassemblies (e.g. chassis surfaces, component marking, solder workmanship, paint, edges, hardware, wiring, connectors, nameplates, fits/clearances, markings)
Perform unit shakedown (when required) to check for foreign objects, rattles and loose internal hardware.
Utilize computer systems to perform inspection tasks (e.g. Via Search, SAP, Engineering Information System, Autotime for labor charging)
Verify Quality Alert and Approved Supplier List data in SAP
Verify, retain and retrieve supplier Certificate of Conformance documents
Perform emergency release/controlled release of parts per quality procedures
Perform purchase order and drawing reviews and Return to Vendor (RTV) Processes
Conduct inspection sampling per standard procedure tables
Screen electronic components for discrepancies, counterfeit parts criteria, and non-conforming condition
Perform segregation, control and disposition of non-conforming parts
Perform First Article Inspection and complete related documentation
Perform administrative tasks associated with file management (hard copy/electronic)
Generate, verify & close Non-Conforming Quality Notification (QN) tags using SAP
Follow proper material handling and packaging techniques to avoid damage
Support customer audits (internal/external)
Follow work priorities to accomplish production goals
Recognize and take steps to resolve inspection/work area issues
Maintain accurate records of all work performed (e.g. labor charging, verification, inspection data)
Train other employees and perform other duties as assigned
Transport product with or without product carts Lift up to 35 pounds unassisted (anything > 35 lbs requires lift device/buddy-system)
Sit at workbench/machines for extended periods of time (e.g. entire shift)
Stand at workbench/flow line/machines for extended periods of time (e.g. entire shift)
Bend, stoop, reach, turn as required (e.g. picking up totes, placing units on racks)
Use hands for extended periods of time (e.g. entire shift) to perform assembly (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation)
Utilize magnification devices for extended periods of time (e.g. entire shift) to perform verification, assembly & soldering
Distinguish colors and meet vision requirements
Working with chemicals and adhesives that may emit fumes
Handle finished products that may contain chemicals & adhesives
Work with material handling equipment, products of various weights, sizes & dimensions
Wear static-control and personal protective equipment
- High School diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of direct inspection experience
The ideal candidate will be interested and willing to expand out into other inspection duties
Candidate must possess excellent teamwork, communication, work relations, problem solving and team building abilities
Good reading and math skills
Good computer aptitude
Demonstrated assembly aptitude
Demonstrated ability to use basic measuring instruments and hand tools
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with others
Demonstrated ability to access and use computer systems (e.g. email, work instructions, attendance)
