Perform a variety of basic manual or machine assembly tasks associated with building Printed Wiring Board (PWB) or unit Assemblies for a variety of aerospace applications. Assembles electronics according to product specifications. Follows blueprints to put together electronic devices, tools, and products using hand & power tools and other assembly equipment.
Typical duties/tasks include (but not limited to) :
Performs technical tasks
Utilizes various types of microelectronic, electronic, optical, electro-optical, mechanical, or electromechanical equipment, including computers and lasers
Performs troubleshooting, calibration or modification of hardware, fixtures, and software
Participates on project teams
Performs task prioritization
Interacts with other functional groups (e.g. engineering, manufacturing) on technical matters
Applies technical expertise in the evaluation, development, maintenance and use of products, devices, tests, or procedures under constantly changing conditions where ingenuity and judgment are required
Manages and maintains technical assets
Support activities through the resolution of problems and preparation and maintenance of documentation
Manage work flow throughout area to achieve team goals
Evaluate and troubleshoot non-conformances
Fabricate hardware, equipment, tools or prototypes from drawings or sketches
Estimate labor, material, and manufacturing costs for the building and repair of product or process enhancement
Identify and correct minor process, material, design, or equipment
Provide accurate recording of time changes, test data, parts usage, etc. This requires data interpretation
Utilize multiple databases to create/use necessary information to provide information for decision making requiring limited judgment
Physical Demands (representative)
Transport product with or without product carts;
Lift up to 25 pounds unassisted;
Sit and or stand at workbench / machines / flow line for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, reach, turn as required; use hands for extended periods of time to perform assembly (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation); utilize magnification devices for extended periods of time to perform verification, assembly & soldering; distinguish colors and meet vision requirements
Work Environment Characteristics (representative)
Work with manual / light power tools, products of various weights and sizes, high air pressure, medium to high temperature equipment / materials, enclosed x-ray and laser machines, equipment with moving parts, chemicals and adhesives that may emit fumes.
Wear static-control and personal protective equipment.
High School diploma or equivalent, e.g. GED required
HS diploma and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 6 years of relevant experience is required
Good reading and math skills
Good computer aptitude
Basic assembly aptitude
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to use basic measuring instruments and hand tools
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with others
Ability to access and use computer systems (e.g. email, work instructions, attendance)
