Get onboard the UTC Aerospace Operations and Supply Chain team and play a part in managing our innovative products from inception to delivery. Operations and Supply Chain employees have the opportunity to network across our businesses and functions, all while improving the productivity, quality and efficiency of our operations worldwide.

The Manufacturing Engineer plays an integral role in making sure that our process are robust and refined to exceed the expectations of our customers and company. Someone in this role will be a major player in developing, implementing and training others on our continuous improvement practices to keep us operating in the most efficient manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Use current manufacturing processes and capture best practices in the form of work instructions and work standards.

  • Work with various levels of employees to implement actions to improve processes and production flow.

  • Plan, coordinate and provide trouble shooting and technical support efforts to maintain smooth, effective day-to-day production activities.

  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space application, and workflow; designs layout of equipment and work space for maximum efficiency.

  • Establishes creative manufacturing solutions.

  • Leads activities to include training of department personnel and fosters a lean culture through continuous coaching of team members.

  • Ensure capacity demand and market demand are aligned.

  • Work in a collaborative environment to produce products and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality.

  • Partners with purchasing and with vendors to communicate product specifications and to arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.

  • Evaluates the ability to produce the product and recommends appropriate changes in specifications and quality standards.

  • Works with production management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and capacities, production schedules, and other considerations impacting delivery promises and customer service.

  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to ensure ability to manufacture.

  • Develop concepts for new automation, machine tooling, fixtures, and processes.

  • Develop manufacturing specifications, methodologies, and equipment.

  • Effect design changes to machine tooling, fixtures, and processes.

  • Monitors required project tasks, time schedules, and costs on projects and products with major impact on company.

  • Oversee installation of manufacturing equipment.

  • Validate manufacturing process.

  • Lead advanced planning activities

  • Transition new processes/products from engineering to the manufacturing teams

  • Follow all company policies/procedure and any state or federal laws/regulations

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1 plus years of manufacturing experience

  • Demonstrated experienced in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement and lean processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of production tooling, fixture design, work station design, line layout and balancing, OSHA and safety regulations, and hazardous materials management.

  • 2 plus years of experience in a lean manufacturing/manufacturing engineer role

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering or other related field from an accredited institution.

  • Master’s degree in related field is preferred
