Job Summary

Rockwell Collins Canada is a world leader in wireless communications networking, with products such as high-data-rate HF/VHF/UHF modems and the Self Configuring Relay Network (SCRN) for ad-hoc wireless networks. Rockwell Collins Canada is developing the next generation of HF radios that support significant throughput improvements and ad-hoc networking features, as well as developing Software Defined Radio networking waveforms for customers around the world. We need enthusiastic and creative people to join our team in Ottawa. This role is one of an individual contributor, working under direction of technical leadership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in the definition, specification and design of software of moderate to high complexity. Apply and tailor internal processes, using knowledge of methods and tools for software development and documentation. Ensure development products are designed to meet applicable company, business unit and customer / project requirements.

  • Participate in cross-functional team effort in definition, integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems of moderate to high complexity. Perform debugging and integration of software components above and below currently developed software.

  • Perform integration and test procedures and create reports for product compliance.

  • May serve as a lead in software development or verification efforts for low to moderate complexity software.

  • Participate in the on-going support of applications and products, both in-house and with clients.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable engineering or science field and identified skills and experience.

  • CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP - must either hold or be eligible for a Government of Canada Secret Level Security Clearance and Controlled Good Access.

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following skills and attributes:

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.

  • Deep knowledge of the software life cycle including definition, requirement analysis and design, implementation, validation and support.

  • Proficient in C/C++ and real-time embedded computer architectures.

  • Extensive software development experience in Linux operating systems.

  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments such as Eclipse and Visual Studio; Version Control Systems such as git; and has Object Oriented programming skills.

  • Knowledgeable in networking and wireless communication protocols such as TCP, RTP, VoIP.

  • Good team working ability and self-motivated with a desire to learn.

  • Relational database experience would be an asset.

  • Experience with OPNET or other similar network modelling tools would be desirable.
