Position Overview

The Quality Inspector 2nd Shift ensures that the quality of UTC suppliers, products and process are compliant with internal and regulatory standards and are continuously improving. Performs all assigned tasks based on demonstrated, certified skills and abilities necessary to inspect Landing Gear components. Quality Inspectors will use predetermined methods, operation, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect arriving, in process and completed products for conformance to engineering requirements. This position works under supervision.

This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection of major and minor components.

  • Perform inspection of landing gear assemblies

  • Perform final acceptance of overhaul documentation to ensure compliance with approved technical data (including return to service.)

  • Perform various visual and dimensional inspections of incoming manufactured or vendor provided materials and products for conformance to drawings and specification

  • Assign in-coming nonconforming parts to the appropriate location to ensure quality requirements are met

  • Perform in-process, final bench and product feature inspections

  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and conformity inspections

  • Files documents and maintain quality assurance record systems as required

  • Coordinate with Engineering/Survey and Repair to determine compliance and rework process to return component to airworthiness status

  • This is a 2nd shift role

Experience / Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of landing gear or aviation experience

  • Must be able to use measuring tools, such as: micrometers, calipers, height gage, hydraulic gages, and test equipment.

  • Knowledge of measuring instruments used to check O.D. and I.D. dimensions

  • Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal & written)

  • Understand component maintenance manuals and all other applicable technical documents

  • Interpret and work from customer specification, purchase orders, certification, written and verbal instructions

  • Basic computer Skills

Education / Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred certifications

  • A & P Mechanic License
