Description:

We are growing and as a result, we have added a new Commodity Manager Position to our Supply Chain Organization. This position will be based at our Landing Systems Oakville, Ontario, Canada facility.

Reporting to the, Sr. Manager, Commodity Management, the Commodity Manager will be required to develop and/or implement a series of commodity strategies to achieve best value, effective asset management, continuous quality improvement, and deliver cycle time performance improvements that supports both the Enterprise and respective business unit and supply chain management strategic plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and/or maintain commodity sourcing strategies

  • Develop RFQs, quotes, quotes analysis, and supplier recommendations

  • Negotiate UTAS terms and conditions with supplier and create contracts

  • Create work-transfer documents and passports for the awards recommendations

  • Manage the relationship between the supplier and UTAS

  • Coordinate supplier improvement activities including CI events, corrective actions, metric management and cost reduction initiatives

  • Ensure these activities meet all UTAS and applicable government (FAR) requirements.

  • Organize, lead and manage supplier meetings in regards to strategic initiatives, new work placed at the supplier, performance issues (cost, delivery and quality) and routine program or business reviews.

  • Actively lead strategic sourcing initiatives using expert level negotiating skills and best practice activities while applying CI tools to continually optimize and improve processes and procedures

  • Coordinate/support supply-base transitions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field.

  • Certified Lean Practitioner or equivalent certification preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years' experience in commodity/supply chain/procurement with increasing levels of responsibility or related experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Proven knowledge of procurement and supply chain modern processes and techniques.

  • Preferred - Certified Lean Practitioner or equivalent certification

  • Demonstrated success in developing tactical plans and carrying through to successful execution.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility with business counterparts

  • Experience with global activities, including sourcing and/or operations within different cultures and styles.

  • Experience managing or leading projects or programs

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically expert level Excel and SAP.

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing techniques and procedures is strongly preferred.

  • The successful candidate will be required to travel to supplier and UTAS sites in Canada and the U.S.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, and organizational skills
