As our International Trade Compliance Supervisor, you will be responsible for assessing and executing the daily transactional activities and responsibilities in the International Trade Compliance (ITC) Department according to applicable export and import regulations. You will assist in the development and implementation of ITC policies and procedures that ensure effective compliance to all applicable export and import regulations for business entities across the globe.

We want your areas of expertise to include product classification and country of origin, export screening, licensing, logistics and documentation, sanctions, terms and conditions, origin/valuation, trade agreements, customs regulations, visitor screening and tariffs. You should promote consistency and cross-training within the ITC department to ensure effective business support and understanding. We want you to be able to communicate and promote the integration of ITC in the broader business to increase awareness and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Product Classification
  • Responsible for classifying assemblies and components according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and reviewing classifications accordingly.

  • Work with the Engineering and Supply Chain departments on both HTS and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) product classification determinations.

  1. Import Processing
  • Work with import brokers and carriers to ensure accurate and timely import clearance.

  • Resolve discrepancies in documentation with suppliers and customs.

  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable import regulations.

  1. Export Screening & Sanctions
  • Actively support the order/quotation screening process by assisting customers, sales force, proposals and customer service personnel.

  • Experience with exporting to the following countries: Russia, Ukraine, Iraq, Venezuela and Kazakhstan.

  • Assessing and resolving screening hits (e.g., Specially Designated Nationals).

  • Develop and implement an audit process to ensure compliance with screening requirements for multiple businesses – US, UK and France

  1. NAFTA & Other Free Trade Agreements
  • Responsible for qualification of assemblies and components according to the free trade agreement rules.

  • Work with internal departments to obtain supplier’s certificates and affidavits for proper qualification, including country of origin.

  • Assist with documentation/certificates for custom projects and certificates for selected customers.

  1. Contract Review
  • Assist with identification and resolution of purchase order and contract issues related to trade compliance.

  • Screen letters of credits and new vendors.

  1. Policies & Procedures
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of ITC policies and procedures.

  • Train other Det-Tronics departments on ITC requirements.

  • Conduct self-assessments in accordance with internal policies and implement corrective actions identified.

  1. Recordkeeping & Audit
  • Responsible for ensuring that all regulatory recordkeeping requirements are met.

  • Assist in coordination and implementation of periodic audits of company records for compliance with applicable regulation.

  • Archive documents.

Qualification:

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in manufacturing and working with international entities is highly preferred. Expertise with export and import regulations is required. Ability to assess risks and implement business-focused solutions. Position requires strong communication, organizational, and computer skills, including the use of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

EDUCATION:

A four-year degree in trade compliance or business and 5+ year’s related experience in ITC in an international business environment. ITC-specific certifications a plus.
