Have you considered what it may be like to work at Pratt & Whitney? We have a rare opportunity for a talented Senior Structures Engineer for our Compressions Systems Engineering team to be based in E.Hartford or Middletown, CT.

The Structures Engineer supports the development of world-class commercial and military compression systems.

You will:

  • Design and analyze compression system hardware that meets or exceeds part and system requirements

  • Collaborate to solve problems with integrated product teams and system design teams.

  • Coordinate with all supporting disciplines including Design, Aerodynamics, Heat Transfer & Secondary Flow, Engineering Dynamics & Loads, Metallurgy, Test/Validation and Manufacturing

  • Oversee the concurrent design of multiple components

  • Interpret analysis results for accuracy and proposing alternate solutions

  • Create new part designs

  • Provide production support for hardware and engine deliveries and test support.

10% travel expected

Qualification:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience

  • U.S. Citizen due to program requirements, with the ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in the design and analysis of compression system turbo machinery (or similar) with a strong familiarity in dynamics, vibrations and fatigue & fracture mechanics.

  • Knowledge in stage vibrations, aeroelasticity and/or rotor lifing.

  • Understanding of the practical application of statistics and managing uncertainty

  • Proficiency in tools such as ANSYS, Unigraphics/NX, Hypermesh, Minitab, Matlab, Python, C++ Analytical Skills

  • Excellent Judgment and professional maturity

  • Ability to create positive relationships and craft clear communication
