Job Description

The heat transfer / secondary flow (HTSF) lead will be responsible for creating HTSF designs, mentoring and technically guiding a team of HTSF engineers in creating and assessing designs for advanced gas turbine fans and compressors from the concept initiation phase, preliminary engine design phase, through detailed design, development, certification, manufacturing and post-certification. The HTSF lead will perform and will guide less senior engineers in performing heat transfer, fluid flow, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and optimization analyses. Emphasis is on analytical work and testing directed at the performance of compression system modules. The candidate will be expected to communicate technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, and customers. The candidate will need to effectively work with the Aero-Thermal Fluids (ATF) leadership team to define and execute technology plans, establish standard work methodologies and design system enhancements. Demonstrated leadership for the HTSF team providing Module Center support will be a critical skill for success. Key responsibilities include: * Providing technical leadership in performing heat transfer and secondary flow analysis * Leading closure of key technical issues * Guiding and mentoring other engineers to improve technical capability * Managing outsourcing resources to maintain technical proficiency.

U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident status required due to governement contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering w/ 4+ years experience with gas turbine heat transfer and/or secondary flow engineering PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering w/ 2+ years experience with gas turbine heat transfer and/or secondary flow engineering

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and trending skills.

  • Focus on results and the ability to drive tasks to completion.
