Human Resources Generalist – Western Region – Otis Elevator

We are seeking a motivated, self-starter to drive our human resources programs for the Western Region of Otis Elevator Company, preferred location is Los Angeles, California, however can be based anywhere within the Western Region geography. This is a true roll up your sleeves HR generalist/HR business partner role with the opportunity to leave your mark within the organization. As the HR generalist you be an employee champion for a geographically dispersed organization and will partner with business leaders and HR centers of excellence (COEs) on talent initiatives across the Midwest to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a culture that champions employees and assures people’s hearts and minds are part of every agenda

  • Partner with various stakeholders to develop, implement and execute HR operational initiatives and objectives that support achievement of overall business strategy

  • Improve organizational effectiveness through the development and deployment of solutions to enhance leadership, improve productivity, and drive a performance and innovation culture

  • Be a key steward of talent. Identify high potential talent and cultivate an environment promoting employee development, cultural transformation, and succession planning

  • Partner with relevant HR COEs to deliver human resources programs and business outcome focused solutions. Primary liaison for managing HR operational workflows and inquiries

  • Develop and deliver written communications or presentations and training as necessary to support human resources leadership or client group

  • Drives communications in specialized areas across Human Resources including diversity and inclusion, leadership and development, annual surveys, rewards and recognition, technology implementations, and business transformation

  • Provide leaders and employees with coaching, consultation, and guidance on effective conflict resolution, performance management, employee development and engagement

  • Drive lateral connectivity and collaboration within human resources and across the organization. Deliver strategic customer solutions that are efficient, effective, and flexible

Experience/Qualifications

  • Prior human resources experience supporting diverse client groups

  • Experience in coaching employees and managers, facilitating training and developing and implementing HR projects

  • Agile with the ability to embrace speed, flexibility, rapid execution and creative collaboration

  • Solid organizational and project management skills with ability to develop and execute multiple end-to-end programs concurrently and with little oversight

  • Demonstrated knowledge in coaching/managing organizational change, including culture shifts, technology transitions, office moves, and mergers and acquisition

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with ability to deliver crisp messaging to all levels of organization

  • Data driven decision maker with ability to mine complex information, draw conclusions independently and present findings in a clear and concise manner

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sustainable and comprehensive projects from start to finish

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively and build strong partnerships with diverse and cross functional teams

  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities on a daily basis and with precision

  • Strong employee relations and leadership skills

  • Proficient HR and general business acumen

  • Familiarity with California labor code

  • Demonstrated competence in written, oral and electronic communications skills, required

  • Team player with a continuous improvement mindset that is willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done

  • Ability to travel as needed, approximately 25%

  • Desire for future leadership positions of increasing responsibility and the ability to relocate with geographic flexibility is a plus

Education

  • BA/BS degree with 5+ years relevant experience

  • MA/MS/MBA degree with 3+ years relevant experience

  • PHR or other applicable certification is a plus
