The Midwest Area Engineering Manager (located in Lisle, IL and covers Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, and Iowa) is the functional leader of the Midwest Area hardware and software engineers. The primary responsibility is implementing engineering initiatives and ensuring consistent engineering deliverables. In addition, this position will be a key contributor to aiding the Area Operation teams in overall commitment to operational excellence as it pertains to synching engineering to field execution. Requires the following abilities: Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret intricate business documents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the standardization of engineering methodologies and drive adoption across the Area

  • Continuously evaluate new technologies/tools and determine how to inject them into our delivery processes as well as our products and solutions to improve efficiency, quality, installed cost and customer satisfaction and to grow sales

  • Participate in the pre-bid review and, when necessary, the bid preparation, of large projects

  • Help develop and improve company engineering standards

  • Develop Mentoring plans and continuously assist in the training of new and existing Software and Hardware Engineers

  • Participate in peer reviews, turnover meetings, post mortem meetings and close out meetings as required on priority projects

  • Participate in and conduct interviews with potential high valued engineering candidates

Qualification:

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues

  • Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style

  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups

  • Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles

  • Skill to be able to calculate complex figures

  • Needs to be able to conduct financial/business analysis including the preparation of presentations and reports

  • Ability to forecast and prepare budgets

  • Be able to recommend and perform value-engineering studies and evaluate contractor qualifications and recommendations at a high level

Education:

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 10 years industry experience or Four-year Master's degree and 10 years of industry experience preferred
