RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary roles and responsibilities of this position include several aspects of technical work related to printed circuit board (PCB) assembly including: analysis and repair of PCB assembly equipment (solder paste dispensing, pick and place machinery, reflow and wave soldering systems); specifying replacement of consumable items within the manufacturing process; assisting Manufacturing Engineers in the development and improvement of processes related to PCB assembly and the deployment of new equipment.

  • Utilize direct experience with electro-mechanical systems and processes to ensure equipment uptime.

  • Responsible for readiness of several groups of PCB assembly equipment.

  • Contributes to the team by applying their knowledge of PCB assembly and continuously gaining knowledge about PCB assembly processes and equipment.

Job responsibilities include: first line responder for daily equipment issues; calibration and repair pick and place feeders, ordering and deploying silkscreen and solder paste stencils, creation and maintenance of equipment and process documentation; may be responsible for multiple small projects and/or parts of larger projects.

Required tasks will include; training production associates on equipment operation, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) of equipment and preventative maintenance processes; specifying/maintaining spare parts for manufacturing equipment; assisting in the creation and verification of Reflow and Wave Solder profiles; and the implementation of Engineering Change Orders. Work with quality related items in relation to PCB assembly and processes. This position will work directly with manufacturing personnel to produce quality end products.

Candidate must be able to multitask to support multiple projects, work well in groups, focus on results, be open to new ideas, have good written and verbal communication skills, have good listening skills, and work well under pressure. The candidate must also have good time management skills, attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to ensure follow-up with customers and co-workers. Proven problem analysis and resolution skills are required.

Qualification:

  • 2+ years’ experience in performing equipment maintenance/repair; 2+ years experience in an electronics PCB manufacturing environment; 1+ years in developing process documentation

  • 2+ years’ experience supporting processes in a technical or manufacturing environment

  • High mechanical aptitude demonstrated by the ability to understand system interactions and effective troubleshooting skills

  • Proficient in the use of all hand tools

  • Soldering experience is a plus as is the proficient in the use of a DMM

  • Proficient or the ability to quickly master a variety of computer software programs: MS Office, CAD and equipment operation software

  • Ability to use data to drive decision making

  • Ability to use equipment manuals to diagnose failure modes

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to determine interaction between various systems

  • Ability to demonstrate and apply strong troubleshooting skills

  • Proficient in the use of all hand tools including ability to learn new and prosperity equipment

  • Proficient in the use of DMM (digital multi-meter) to diagnose equipment issues

  • Proficient in a variety of computer software programs: MS Office, CAD and the ability to quickly learn the use of new software tools

  • Ability to use data to drive decision making

  • Ability to use equipment manuals to diagnose equipment and process issues

  • Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical control systems and components

  • Ability to research/ specify vendors and engineering tools

Education:

  • Associate's degree with 1-2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent training

  • Associate or technical school diploma with a focus on an Engineering discipline
