Carrier has an opportunity for an individual to drive the implementation of the internal and external Carrier Software Quality Assurance Process.
We are seeking a high energy individual that is passionate about driving quality in our controls and software organizations and has proven experience within the industry. The position will work closely with the controls/ software team in Indianapolis, as well as develop a process for 3rd party suppliers. In this role the individual will implement and coach the SQA process.
This position could have visibility across Carrier business units, as well as the local Residential Carrier headquarters.
This will be a key role in the Future Product Quality team performing the following: Ability to lead and help create the first SQA team. Coach the controls/ software team in implementing and creating an internal SQA process. Create and drive quality improvements in all software within the organization. Create standard work for creating and kicking off test plans. Coach and ensure robustness in software FMEA reviews (failure modes and effects analysis). Create and lead Software definition and improvement activities for software product processes and use it to drive standard work. Lead software quality audits for both process and code reviews. Understand system processes and how to roll out Supplier Quality reviews in relation to software. Assess the organization in the SQA process and gap plan development. Develop quality communications to drive the quality – customer-focused – culture and knowledge in the supply base. Supporting activities to attract and develop quality talent through hands-on recruiting, hosting information-sharing sessions, and mentoring of early talent Serving as quality expert in support of quality/compliance investigations, as required with the supplier base. Generate metrics to understand health of the projects. Leading assessments of external supplier software quality.
The right candidate must be a self-starter and can work independently, willing to work in a fast paced global environment, be able to raise issues openly and have the ability to influence people that do not work for you.
This is a high visibility role responsible for driving quality across Residential Carrier and engaging in leading continuous improvement initiatives.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering (Software/ Computer/ Electrical Engineering) Certifications: Desired but not required and familiarity with software capability maturity models (CMM) or SPICE.
The ideal candidate would be: A proven leader willing to take on challenges in a fast paced environment. Experience in quality software assurance with 5-10 years of direct work experience with an OEM for equipment and/ or consumer products Strong writing skills Excellent communication skills, a creative and innovative mindset Self-directed with meticulous attention to detail Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint Tool familiarity: IBM Jazz
