RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of this position will be to develop a standardized process for scanning components using a CreaForm 3-D HandyScan scanner, and converting the resulting 3-D surface model to a solid model using Poly Works and Creo Parametric (Pro/Engineer).

The candidate will have responsibility for the following in addition to adhoc assignments as needed.

The individual in this position will train with one of our designers to learn how to scan physical components and will research and work with the noted modeling software to develop a standard method to convert the scanned models to a usable 3-D solid that can be manipulated in CAD and used in engineering modeling applications such as finite element analysis. They would then document the process and provide training to the Design Services group based on their learnings.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

The ideal candidate should be able to work with minimal to moderate guidance.

Output of this internship would include:

  • Any scanned and converted models developed during this project

  • A document to describe process for scanning and converting scanned models into usable solid models

  • A training session for our designers in based on the defined process

Some interaction with an offshore design group may be necessary

Qualification:

  • Some experience in Creo Parametric (Pro/Engineer) is preferred

  • Any necessary advanced training can be made available via PTC’s online training system

Education:

  • The ideal candidate for this position will be a student pursuing a degree in Engineering Technology or a related field of study
