This position requires management of a team of FPGA Engineers involved in architecting, developing, and verifying of complex electronic systems for Design Assurance up to Level A aircraft products. Provides technical design guidance relative to the execution of new electronics designs as well as ensuring Predictable Project Performance.
Specific responsibilities of this role include:
Selects, leads, directs, evaluates, and develops a team of professional engineers to ensure that engineering tasks are completed on-time, within budget, and meeting technical requirements.
Coaches and mentors staff in all aspects of their development, tracks and develops discipline specific skills and competencies in order to identify gaps in the organization and develop gap closure plans to meet current and future business needs.
Ensure projects are staffed with appropriately skilled resources. Develops a positive working relationship with our international colleagues and the Global Engineering Center in India, Leased Labor, and Statement of Work Outsourcing agencies. Ensures that teams apply and follow Collins Aerospace Standard Work and industry best practices including Robust Electronics in designs.
Provides leadership and technical direction for engineering activities to ensure organization’s objectives are achieved. Identifies risks within business and develops improvement plans to mitigate risk.
Represents the organization at Collins Aerospace Communities of Practice, corporate initiatives, and working groups to share lessons learned, support/lead continuous improvement activities, and develop networks of subject matter experts across the company.
Manages a team in area of expertise with responsibility for meeting technical requirements, deliverables, and project budgets.
Works with associated leads and Program leadership to ensure best practices and design strategies are integrated into proposals and program plans.
Contributes directly to department strategy considering immediate and long term goals.
Develops strong cross functional ties to establish framework for well integrated approach to development programs Leads and applies improvements in methods, tools, process definitions and design strategies.
Work closely with Discipline Chiefs and Product Teams to ensure alignment on technical approach and execution
Knowledge of industry practices and standards (i.e RTCA DO-254)
Bachelor degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or Master’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or PhD Degree with 2+ years of experience
or experience in a comparable role instead
