Collins Aerospace designs, manufactures and integrates nacelles, thrust reversers, pylons and flight control surfaces for commercial and military aircraft. This position is located in Foley Alabama, The Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) facility. Our facility is one of Industry Week magazine’s 2016 Best Plants in North America! We are currently expanding our facility and seeking employees who are excited to be a part of our team!
Manufacturing Engineer Interns will be assigned to a 2- 3 month internship designed to apply their educational curriculum to real-time work experiences in the Manufacturing/Aerospace field. Interns will receive beneficial and meaningful projects as well as direct involvement in processes for Collins Aerospace.
As a Manufacturing Engineering intern, you will be helping ensure that production goals are met on a daily basis. You will interface with Operations and Quality to resolve issues as they occur utilizing multiple root cause evaluation techniques. You will support process and tooling improvements for assembly operations. In addition, you’ll help develop plans to support the required rate of production for large scale aerospace manufacturing programs. You will learn valuable and popular software used in production and engineering environments.

In this role you will:
Follow specific instructions to continually improve quality and productivity for products and processes within a designated area/project that meet or exceed national and international government standards with little to no guidance needed
Maintain statistical and financial records for assigned projects and processes to minimize waste where necessary while meeting all standards for quality and time
Suggest capital project improvements in order to satisfy production requirements; document, specify and justify all such projects
Collaborate with a team of engineers to ensure all product and system requirements are taken in to consideration
Provide support for technical problems, including safety and ergonomics, with minimal supervision and at times providing guidance to associate engineers Education and Certifications
A minimum of two (2) years progress towards BS in Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited university (30 credit hours)
Per UTC Internship Program requirements, student must have a Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher Basic Qualifications Our intern position will assist the Manufacturing Operations/Technical Services department with numerous daily activities related to Manufacturing Engineering and provide a realistic job preview of the Manufacturing Engineer role. The role will also provide ownership and exposure to special projects with longer-term impact to the businessAn ideal candidate will be able to work 5 days per week during the Summer 2018 term but flexibility will be considered.Must be a U.S. Citizen or have Permanent Resident status & 18 years of age
