Otis World Headquarters is seeking a Specialist, Public Relations & Communications. Reporting to the Director, Public Relations & Communications, the Specialist, Public Relations & Communications will be responsible for the development, support and execution of external communication strategies, tactics and campaigns.
The ideal candidate has an understanding of the current and new realities of public relations and external communications across a globally diverse business and demonstrates understanding of cutting-edge practices across new channels and platforms. S/he understands, or is eager to learn, the value of working within a wholly-integrated, multi-discipline communications team. S/he is comfortable in a high-performing, fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to support development of various content. In addition, the individual will be adept at multitasking with a strong commitment to quality and meeting deadlines. Multi-national, Fortune 500 company experience and industry knowledge in the areas of commercial building systems and/or consumer facing brands and products preferred.
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Work with some oversight to design, develop and implement communication programs to support specific paid and earned media efforts.
Utilize a variety of media and communication channels including print, broadcast and digital/electronic, including social media. Understand how these channels can influence one-another to capture attention and influence key audiences.
Help to develop, coordinate, support and execute integrated external communication strategies including public relations activities, crisis communications, and social media communications.
Support media inquiries while monitoring news media trends and major issues affecting the company to help develop strategic responses.
Align public relations with marketing and employee communications to leverage content, enhance Otis visibility and strengthen brand equity among all key stakeholder audiences.
Provide support to communications team members in Otis’ regions, specifically when executing public relations campaigns/activities.
Support continued development of crisis communications plans and preparedness.
Ensure online communications, including new communication technologies, are integrated into the overall strategy for reaching external stakeholders and the public globally.
Provide tactical support for external communications materials, including original copy development, editing and placement.
Coordinate with external agencies as needed.
Use media monitoring tools to monitor and flag Otis coverage. Use newswire distribution tools and maintain media listings to distribute Otis news.
Lead Otis weekly media reporting process through collaboration with Otis regions and UTC.
At least 4 years of demonstrated success in communications and public relations.
The ability to work with urgent deadlines, changing priorities, and to manage multiple high-priority assignments simultaneously, in a professional manner.
Demonstrated creativity and immersion in social media.
Demonstrated analytical, research, and editorial skills, as well as comfort with applying data to business challenges
Proven and highly efficient project management capabilities, including prioritizing, developing and executing plans, tracking progress, solving problems, mitigating risks and achieving goals;
Strong attention to detail, high-quality work, and the ability to make recommendations;
Demonstrated success working in a team environment and ability to collaborate with an array of colleagues – from other functional departments, and in diverse geographic locations;
A willingness to embrace change and to adapt evolving strategies;
Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills that reflect an ability to clarify and simplify complex issues and subject matters.
Bachelor’s degree in the Communications, Business or Marketing fields.
