The Otis division has a summer internship opportunity for candidates interested in a career in Embedded Software Engineering. The internship experience offers interns an environment that provides practical, challenging, and meaningful on-the-job work experience, and the opportunity to apply knowledge and demonstrate strengths in efforts to assist UTC - Otis achieve its business strategy.

Embedded Software Engineering interns will be given assignments in the areas of health monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting as well as software qualification testing and functional evaluation. There will be assignments related to retrieving and transmitting data via serial communications interfaces. Actual assignments will be reflective of project priorities.

  • Engineering students should preferably have completed courses in the area of embedded software programming.

  • Knowledge of the following tools and skills is desirable:

  • Tools: Code Composer Studio, TI C2000 DSPs, Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Skills: C language programming, serial flash device programming, SPI, SCI, CAN serial communications, software queues, device drivers, critical timing analysis, software troubleshooting.

Qualification: Candidates must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and have working knowledge of all Microsoft Software applications. Candidates should be self-starters and be able to work with minimal direction. They should be able to communicate a clear understanding of their subject matter, work in cross-functional teams, respect individual differences and welcome diverse thinking, and offer informed suggestions to improve processes.

Education:

Summer 2018 internship opportunities are available for full-time undergraduate and graduate students working toward a BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Completed Junior year preferred

Minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and 3.25 or better in major (out of 4.0)
