This position works closely with the Tax Planning group to drive and execute tax projects across the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful implementation of tax-planning projects from start to finish, including project qualification, feasibility, scoping, budgeting, design, implementation and documentation. In addition to working with the Tax function, the position collaborates with stakeholders from across the Finance function, the business units and with the company’s external advisors.
Creates and updates detailed project plans using MS Project or a comparable project-management software tool
Manages scope and schedule changes through change control
Applies the TAX planning process and ensures project standards are followed
Manages and facilitates effective status and review meetings
Publishes meeting agendas and minutes
Coordinates, documents and facilitates project working group meetings
Manages and tracks project issues and decisions, and elevates them organizationally, as appropriate
Maintains accurate metric reports and provides timely communication of project status and performance results
Develops and maintains project documentation
Develops relationships with key stakeholders and team members to form a cohesive team
Coordinates the review of legal agreements to ensure all revisions and versions are managed and controlled
Develops and carries out communication plans to ensure project stakeholders receive the right information at the right time and expectations are clearly understood
Continually evaluates the planning process and utilizes ACE Quality System tools and methodologies to drive process improvement
A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, tax or a related discipline
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Seven to ten years of related accounting and/or finance experience
Solid knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools
A demonstrated ability to successfully plan, lead and execute multiple, complex projects with global stakeholders
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability and desire to communicate and collaborate across functions
Strong forward-thinking skills and an ability to keep project teams focused on the end state
Good business judgment and creative problem-solving skills
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to multi-task
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
A desire to work with others and share responsibilities in a team environment
Knowledge of the ACE Quality System (UTC’s continuous process improvement and quality assurance methodology) and lean principles and concepts a plus
