We’re on the brink of becoming a standalone, publicly traded company and are looking for a Tax Planning Associate Director, based in Farmington, Connecticut, to join our global family. The position is responsible for working with an existing team to assist in planning and implementing strategies to reduce the company’s effective tax rate, assist business development with tax issues related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and address tax issues raised by Otis’ business unit operations.
Responsible for Foreign and Federal Tax Planning
Works with a team to plan and implement strategies to reduce the company’s effective tax rate
Aligns tax optimization strategies with business objectives
Models and executes strategies
Responsible for assisting business development with M&A
Structures buy-and-sell deals from a U.S. and international tax perspective
Conducts due diligence on targets
Teams with Business Development, Legal and Accounting
Addresses tax issues raised by operations
Understands the business objectives of operations
Anticipates Foreign, Federal and State income and transaction-tax issues raised by operations
Researches and works with outside advisers, as necessary, to understand the tax consequences of issues and proposes alternatives to minimize taxes
Supports Foreign, Federal and State tax-reporting activities
Supports Foreign, Federal, and State tax-audit activities
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or a related discipline is required
CPA is preferred
Advanced tax degree (JD or MST) or interest in pursuing an advanced degree (company-funded) is preferred
Ten-plus years of related tax experience
Strong understanding of International and Federal tax laws and regulations
Working knowledge of major non-US tax systems
Strong understanding of tax issues related to M&A
Good tax-modeling skills
Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability and desire to communicate and collaborate across functions
A good business sense and creative-problem solving skills
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to multi-task
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A desire to work with others and share responsibilities in a team environment
