The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the design of production tools, equipment, and processes. The Manufacturing Engineer plans and executes projects using project management tools. The Manufacturing Engineer utilizes Lean Manufacturing principles to improve processes across the business. The Manufacturing Engineer responds to production stoppages and implements permanent and timely solutions to meet the production schedule. The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, who works on the Operations team under the Operations Manager.
List the major position responsibilities in order of priority. ( This description is intended to be only a general outline of major responsibilities. It is expected that the employee performs these and any other activities which may be assigned or which may occur in the normal course of work. It is also expected that the employee be available to work hours in excess of 40 per week.)
Write Manufacturing Procedures, Standards, and Operation Manuals.
Create 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings of tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine tooling and process requirements.
Select, specify, and design the installation of control element devices to manipulate flows, energy, positions, speeds, and other variables.
Design and install wiring to reliably communicate information between measurement and control element devices and control equipment.
Determine process capability using SPC data.
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements.
Work closely with suppliers, engineering, program management, operations, and procurement.
Train direct labor employees on manufacturing processes
• Frequently works in excess of 40 hrs per week
• Frequently operates tools and equipment
• Will be permanently located in a shop floor environment
• Must be able to infrequently lift 35 lbs
- Bachelor of Science Degree (preferred degree within manufacturing, industrial or electrical engineering, or related disciplines).
Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as excellent communication skills, verbal and written to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated and the ability to grasp concepts quickly.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
Ability to work independently to meet project requirements with minimal supervision.
Strong 3D CAD modeling skills.
2 years of working on systems integration and controls engineering projects, preferred.
2 years of development manufacturing processes, preferred.
Experience with or knowledge of Controls, Electronics, PLCs, etc., preferred.
