In this role, the MPE (Materials & Processes Engineering) Project Engineering Manager for War on Cost will work to strengthen Materials & Processes Engineering’s commercial and military engine program customer relationships and drive the organization toward continuous improvement in preparedness, delivery, and quality execution.

Through an emphasis on clear and complete communications, the War on Cost Manager plays a significant role in promoting materials technology projects that lead to a lower cost, quality product. As primary interface between MPE and the War on Cost office, this leader will manage the MPE budget for program execution as well as coaching engineers on creating business cases to identify new projects. This includes proactive engagement with Module Center CIPTs to meet their needs and ensure MPE task alignment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • collecting technical/schedule/cost data from technical leads to enable monthly program reporting

  • coaching materials project leads on project management skills

  • monthly financial/EVMS reporting

  • communicating deliverables status and risk presentations to leadership

  • coaching project planning and business case preparations with technology leads for future activities

  • coordinating with MPE’s Technology Manager, MPE’s Military CIPT, MPE’s Commercial CIPT, MPEs SFDL, MPE Leadership, and MPE Contracts owners

  • supporting the P&W War On Cost and P&W CIPT customers (military and commercial)

  • cross training to support MPE Military and Commercial CIPTs

Qualification: 7+ years technical experience in industry required, preferably with turbine engine experience.

Must be a highly motivated, proactive, self-directed worker.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Validated proficient project management experience, including the ability to handle large scale change initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success in working across functions, organizations, and all levels of management.

  • Confirmed effectiveness as a detail-oriented individual that possesses the ability to prioritize, organize, and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines.

  • Exhibited clear and concise communication, both verbal and written.

  • Proven as a team-oriented contributor that displays a positive attitude and works well with others.

  • Verified working knowledge of continuous improvement principles and tools, such as process mapping, lean principles, Monte Carlo analysis and DOEs.

  • Displayed solid EVMS skills.

  • Demonstrated use of business case proposals.

  • Established proficiency with SAP and MSOffice products, particularly MSProject, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Education: BS in Engineering required.

Materials Engineering preferred.

Graduate degrees in Engineering and/or Project Management Institute Certification are a plus.
