Description:

General Manager of the United Technologies International Ops (UTIO) supporting Pratt & Whitney Military Engines) Tokyo, Japan office will be responsible for:

  • Managing and identifying Business Development activities for P&W in Japan

  • Maintaining a close & positive relationship with the Japanese Aerospace Industry, Japanese Ministry of Defense, Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF), US Armed Forces, F-35 Joint Program Office, US Embassy and other military services

  • Work closely with all levels of P&W and UTC to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with the Japanese Ministry of Defense, other military services, and the country of Japan

  • Identify new business development opportunities.

  • Support the successful implementation of F-35/F135 Joint Strike Fighter program including Engine and Aircraft Production, Parts Production, Base and Depot activities in Japan

  • Engage in activities to support the overall readiness of the F100 engine fleets and PW implementation of global F100 parts sales from IHI

  • Support the implementation of engine contract requirements and deliverables.

  • Export license management as it pertains to the Japanese F135 and F100 programs

Qualification: REQUIRED:

  • B.S. degree in a technical field and/or military academy

  • 10+ years’ of experience

  • 8+ years of experience in a customer-facing role

  • 5+ years of experience managing a team

  • 5+ years of experience managing budgets

  • Some in-country & domestic travel required, as well as occasional international travel

  • U.S. Citizenship-This is for an expat-role based in Japan; Candidate will spend first 1-3+ months in the U.S. before relocating to Japan.

PREFERRED:

  • Masters/MBA

  • Export licensing experience and familiarity with ITAR and EAR requirements.

  • Experience demonstrating leadership, increasing responsibility, technical & business acumen with a successful track record.

  • Previous experience with military products and programs, international customers and cultures

  • Technical and marketing field experience in a politically sensitive region.

  • Understanding of law and culture

  • Candidate should be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.

Education:

B.S. degree in a technical field and/or military academy; MBA preferred.
