In the next 5 years, F-35 production will experience a significant ramp up in fielded aircraft all over the world. To facilitate the most seamless introduction of F135 Propulsion Systems in those aircraft and ensure a positive customer experience, F135 Field Operations has been filling roving/pool Field Service Engineers (FSE) positions, supporting that growing customer base by bolstering the existing fielded engineers, covering deployments and other short term requirements. F135 Field Operations is seeking an East Hartford manager of this emerging staff to not only lead them with their various scheduled and unscheduled short term assignments in the field, but also handle their efforts in support of other Sustainment organizations when they are at home base. You will also act as the Field Operations Deputy, relative to several areas of responsibility non Flight Test related. Some key areas will be back up representation to the various ISMT and IPMT meetings and external customer meetings, representing Field Operations. Selected individual will assist with the following activities:

  • Coordinate F135 propulsion system maintenance activities with the operating squadrons and JPO relative to providing technical personnel and touch labor solutions.

  • Actively develop and identify current job scope and future development opportunities for a staff of approximately six FSE’s.

  • You will work with the Field Operations Discipline Chief on the development of standard work and training criteria for the next generation of F135 FSE.

  • You will strive to ensure that financial budgets are handled appropriately, explaining overruns and under spending root causes.

  • Support Government Property Management processes for program execution, to include but not limited to Support Equipment (SE), tooling, supply and government processes.

  • Work closely with P&W Customer Support Engineering to gain a working technical and logistical knowledge involving F135 engine operation and maintenance through the use of the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS), Action Requests (AR) and the MERLIN System.

  • Actively support ACE initiatives and ensure employee safety by aligning with and supporting EH&S activities.

  • Actively collaborate with in house and external customer personnel at all levels from senior leadership to the newest recruits.

  • Provide timely insight to PW management relative to emerging issues and relationship with our customer.

  • In addition to technical and logistic prowess, you will be able to identifying FSE customer value by being well versed in areas to include boroscoping, blade blending, Supply Chain Management, Performance Based Logistics, ALIS, MXI database, Support Equipment, Warranty, instructor talents among other traits.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years' experience in related technical, logistics, finance, leadership, sustainment or related area

  • US Citizenship required due to federal contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PW ME experience is desired and beneficial

  • Proven, interpersonal and teaming abilities.

  • Strong communicative skill sets.

  • Familiarity with ACE tools and processes.

  • Prior military service in maintenance and/or logistics is also a plus.

  • Flexibility, understanding and tactfulness that is a given in performing supervisory duties with employees.
