Responsibilities/Accountabilities

As a senior failure analysis engineer you will investigate distressed gas turbine engine components to document and identify the distress mode and potential contributions. The investigation process involves a thorough assessment of the component’s condition including conformance to material, manufacturing, design and assembly specifications for a wide range of commercial, military and developmental engine parts.

Qualification: To be successful in this position, you should have the following experience:

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in materials science, metallurgy or mechanical engineering with 2+ years of engineering/failure analysis experience or

  • M.S. degree in materials science, metallurgy or mechanical engineering with 1+ years of engineering/failure analysis experience.

  • U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements.

  • Experience with metallurgical laboratory assessment techniques

  • Basic Microsoft Office PC skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the investigation or characterization of aerospace alloy systems (i.e. titanium alloys and nickel-based super alloys)

  • Direct experience working with root cause investigation tools (i.e. fault trees, fishbone diagrams, etc.)

  • Exposure to engineering design practice, non-destructive test methods and material/manufacturing processing techniques

  • Excellent Judgment and professional maturity

  • Extraordinary communication skills will be needed to successfully provide the required oral communications, presentations and written reports to our internal and external customers.

  • The ability to perform in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
