Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control, and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development including: requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. We integrate control and diagnostic system design across engine system modules with air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.

The Diagnostics Prognostics and Health Management (DPHM) discipline within CDS is responsible for the development and deployment of groundbreaking data acquisition systems, analytics and big data platforms for P&W Engine’s business.

Within DPHM the Applied Technology Group (ATG) evaluates new technologies that can enable P&W to offer new engine capabilities and also improve efficiency within our engine operations. We offer a unique opportunity to explore and deliver cutting edge business solutions for Large Commercial Engines within all P&W and UTC business units. We are involved in high tech areas such as the Intelligent Engine, the Connected Aircraft, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for part/engine tracking as well as PHM wireless engine sensors.

As a ATG Software Engineer you will have a critical role in both Pratt & Whitney’s Next Generation Product Family of engines and legacy commercial programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical aspects of new and existing projects working with internal and external customers.

  • Maintain system and high level requirements.

  • Oversee integration details with airframer and engine teams.

  • Perform software development of embedded RTOS, Linux Systems and Tools.

  • Perform informal testing and support formal verification and validation testing of work.

  • Attend industry committees for initiatives like connected aircraft.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8 years of experience in computer language C.

  • Master's degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience in computer language C.

  • Experience in Computer Operating System - Linux (System Admin, Usage)

  • Experience with (Embedded System) Real-time Operating System

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with (Partitioned) Real-time Operating System

  • Experience with various computer languages such as Python, Java Script, Shell Script

  • Experience with wired and wireless computer networks

  • Aerospace Experience with RTCA DO-178 and ARINC: A429, A664, A615A, A604, A661, A827, A835

  • Experience with Cyber Security, Agile Software Development, and Test Equipment Development.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
