We are seeking an ELECTRO-OPTICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER to provide system engineering and technical support to novel and challenging projects of varying size throughout their life cycle stages. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of optical window assemblies to support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions on a variety of military platforms. These platforms present unique challenges that include requirements to maintain high image quality and transmission over multiple wavelength bands while subjected to the harsh environments of high-speed airborne applications, extreme EMI environments, and a variety of sizes and complex geometries.

There are no direct reports in this position. However, you may be responsible for directing a small engineering team in the development of electro-optical sensor windows. Duties expected of this position include:

  • Review and evaluation of customer requirement documents.

  • Interface with customers through the product life cycle from validation of requirements, support of platform conceptual interface development, requirements verification, sell-off, and post-delivery support.

  • Work with program teams, including other engineering disciplines and program management, to develop window system design concepts, define and perform trades, develop optical system performance models, and decompose and flow down system requirements to lower level assemblies and components.

  • Develop and maintain specifications, technical budgets, requirements verification matrices, verification plans (including analysis plans and test plans), and review test procedures and verification artifacts..

  • Prepare and present material for formal design reviews and customer meetings, support system level testing, and generate end item data package materials to demonstrate compliance to customer and internal requirements.

  • Provide technical support to proposal activities.

Qualification:

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

  • Background in optical systems engineering and performance modeling.

  • Systems engineering experience including writing requirements specifications, verification plans, analysis plans, test plans, and verification reports.

  • Experience writing technical reports and making technical presentations.

Preferred

  • Experience in DoD airborne and ground systems, mission analysis, and government military program contracts.

  • Experience using DOORS requirements management tool.

  • Experience with optical metrology technologies and techniques.

CANDIDATE MUST BE A US CITIZEN AND MUST EITHER HOLD A CURRENT US DoD CLEARANCE OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A CLEARANCE.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in optical engineering, physics, or a related field required. Master’s degree in optical engineering, physics, or a related field preferred.
