Description:

The Quality Engineer objective is to follow customer requirements, regulatory requirements and corporate policies to ensure the production of compliant products.

The position objectives and responsibilities include:

Review of engineering documentation to ensure it contains the necessary quality assurance and customer provisions and criteria.

Serve as an issue resolution focal point that works with engineering, customer service support, and operations to drive continuous improvement in products and processes.

Collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities.

Determine the proper disposition of nonconforming material when participating in the Material Review Board (MRB) activities.

Perform as an integrated team leader with engineering, customer service support, and operations to investigate and correct various quality issues related to internal non-Conformances, product returns, supplier issues, customer complaints and corrective action requests with clear and concise reports to customers.

Participate on cross functional team projects to improve the overall organization and to develop a career path and leadership, with coaching and assistance by the Quality Manager.

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required. Minimum of three (3) years broad quality experience preferred, experience in CMM and quality determination using a variety of tools.

  • CQE and/or Green Belt Certification preferred

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Familiar with the following computer software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and a general understanding of quality procedures. Be able to follow written/verbal procedures and instructions. Possess good organizational skills. Follow all EH&S rules and guidelines. Support ACE and continuous improvement. Possess good people and communication skills.

  • Understanding of internal and external customer requirements with a high attention to detail in resolving findings.

  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering technical data to provide guidance to cross functional teams.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management and decision-making skills.

  • Results focused work ethic to resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, AS9102, ISO9001

  • Knowledge of Document Control and Calibration systems.

  • Ability to query data from SAP, CAPP 2 and Solumina database systems.

  • Proficiency with CAD software required.

  • Able to interpret manufacturing drawings and 3D models.

  • Must be willing to work an alternate work week, if demand requires. Be able to work in a team environment. Be able to handle multi-tasking duties. Required to successfully pass annual vision screening.

Locations/Information

  • Columbus, Georgia – Columbus Forge Disk – Manufacture of isothermal forging jet engine disks

  • Multiple positions on multiple shift available
