Pratt & Whitney’s Columbus Forge Blades (CFB) business unit has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer (1st Shift - 12hr x 3) as a part of our Forgings Center of Excellence organization. This role will own the process for a product family across departments with the objective of supporting and improving the overall process. This position will work out of our Columbus, GA facility and report to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement plans that are in line with the business strategy to further our world-class technology portfolio

  • Provide operational engineering support to develop technologies and processes which support the growth curve and cost reduction targets

  • Leverage manufacturing innovations to improve cost, delivery, and quality of Columbus Forge

  • Develop plans and processes to align with our growth strategy to support the next generation of aerospace propulsion systems

  • Perform research and development activities to support other functional areas regarding technical and or material/metallurgical issues related to quality, operations, and processes

  • Assist with problem solving during manufacturing related investigations

  • Support operational excellence using Statistical Process Analysis (SPC) for process control and certification

  • Lead the ACE journey to continuously improve the quality and exceed customer’s expectations

  • Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • You graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • You are a US Person (Permanent Resident) or US Citizen

  • You have at least 2 years of experience working in a Process Manufacturing Engineer role within a manufacturing facility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You've completed a graduate degree or MBA program

  • You have 3 or more years’ experience developing manufacturing process within an Aerospace manufacturing facility, repair station or forging facility

  • General knowledge of conventional tooling and machining technologies including multi-axis grinding, 5 axis milling, Mill-turn, 2 and 4 axis lathes, forge presses and broaching

  • Knowledge of thermal processing (forging) of airfoil super alloys, robotics, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a plus. Familiarity with turbofan engines and airfoil/blade components preferred

  • You have experience in Root Cause & Corrective Action, Material Review Board (MRB), Non-Conformance Reviews (NCR), Internal Corrective Actions (ICAR), resolving and preventing potential Quality Escapes

  • You can work with CAD tools to produce tooling (including 3d printing techniques) and create engineering blue prints using GD&T symbols ASME Y14.5

  • Your background includes working with ACE, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma or related Continuous Improvement tools with a proven track record of cost savings and continuous improvement accomplishments.

  • You are comfortable working with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. SAP, Team Center and Solumina experience a plus
