Position Purpose/Objective:

This individual will be responsible for monitoring and managing numerous product configuration items during the product development process for the Seating business. Some items to be managed are seat weight, seat configurations, material compliance, and seat design maturity.

The position will provide engineering deliverables through all phases of development from concept generation through qualification testing and the initial production implementation.

Essential Responsibilities:

As part of the product development process, this individual would be responsible for:

  • Responsible for monitoring the weight of the seat

  • Responsible for monitoring the seat Bill of Material

  • Responsible for monitoring materials used on seat

  • Monitoring parts that are used on multiple configurations

  • Tracking configuration of test articles

  • Other product configuration items as required by IPT.

  • Works as part of a cohesive engineering team and with the Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) supporting development of various aircraft seating products

  • Assists Engineering Management to coordinate the timely delivery of product design and customer proposal requests

  • Adheres to all UTAS rules and codes of conduct

  • Performs other duties as required

Qualification:

Experience Required:

  • 3+ years working in an engineering position in an Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) environment

  • Experience in monitoring the configuration of a product during the product development, testing, and qualification phases

  • Experience as part of an engineering team developing elecro-mechanical products

  • 3D CAD experience with high end CAD software (e.q. NX, Catia,)

  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and skills facilitating working in a teamwork environment

Preferred :

  • Two years of Unigraphics/NX CAD experience

  • Team Center and Team Center Multi Site PLM experience

  • Experience in aerospace requirements/design activities

  • Experience of aerospace specifications

  • Experience with aerospace materials and associated manufacturing processes

  • Experience with lean principles, continuous improvement, or UTC Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE)

  • Experience with international engineering support groups

  • Position requires willingness to work extra hours (average 10% overtime)

Education Required:

  • Bachelors degree with 3+ years’ experience in related field, or AAS with 10+ years’ experience in related field
