Position Purpose/Objective :

The NPI Supervisor is responsible to support new product development programs with timely tactical and strategic support that meets all internal and external customer requirements including design intent & optimization, quality, cost and delivery targets. The position requires to robustly follow and implement supply chain, program management and engineering standard work for new product introduction.

Essential Responsibilities :

•Manages team of primarily entry and intermediate professionals with flexibility to determine how assignments are completed (e.g., objectives and approaches to completing work).

•Explains policies, practices, and procedures.

•Responsible for executing plans to ensure the new product sourcing strategy is in alignment with desired program outcomes.

•Follows UTAS’s best practice standard work NPI processes

•Liaison for engineering technology, material & component optimization, new product cost analysis, design readiness and manufacturing producibility

•Active involvement in sourcing strategy and vision with commodity management

•Procurement transaction execution

•Ensures development hardware & FAI delivery timelines are met

•Supports supplier development activity

•Validate & refining cost reduction initiatives

•Initiate and direct UTAS playbook processes such as UPPAP production readiness, substantiation plans, quality plans, CAI/FAI’s, special process approvals

•Coordinate with procurement on negotiates pricing, contracts, and terms

•Other duties as assigned

Qualification: Experience Required :

•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain/procurement leadership or related manufacturing experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supply chain/procurement leadership or related manufacturing experience with increasing levels of responsibility when combined with a Master’s degree.

Skills Required :

•Tactical buying experience

•Demonstrated negotiation skills

•Demonstrated project management skills

•Engineering design familiarization and manufacturability evaluation

•Ability to establish credibility with business counterparts of various disciplines.

•Demonstrated success in developing detailed plans and carrying through to successful execution.

•Experience with new product development projects in varying sizes and durations.

•Experience with global activities, including sourcing and/or operations within different cultures and styles.

•Experience managing or leading projects or programs

Competency Expectations :

•Meet or exceed stakeholder time, cost, and functionality needs and expectations from a project.

•Determines alternative solutions to problems, evaluates courses of actions, and reaches sound business decisions.

•Keeps others informed on a need-to-know basis, in a timely manner, identifying the level of urgency/ priority of the situation or need.

Work Environment / Other Position Requirements :

•Office environment or office environment on production floor.

•Occasionally in production area requiring safety glasses.

•Extended periods of sitting at a workstation and utilizing a computer keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Travel :

10% of time traveling

Education:

Education Required :

•BA/BS Degree in Supply Chain Management or other related field such as Business or Engineering

•Professional Supply Chain Certification Preferred

•Senior CI Accreditation (Lean, Six Sigma – both classroom and field accreditation) a plus

•Project Management Certification a plus
