The Senior Supervisor—Operations provides leadership for the activities and personnel in the assigned production area to obtain a safe, efficient, productive, and economical manufacturing operation. Increases the ratio of value to non-value and eliminates waste in the overall value stream from start to finish, for a defined product family and ensures that the value stream meets or exceeds customer requirements.
Specific functions for Assembly Line 410, this line is the lighthouse of the lean transformation plan for the factory:
Hold support areas and departments such as scheduling, materials delivery, maintenance, manufacturing and quality, accountable to keep the system working per standard design.
Have support areas to report daily the set of standard metrics defined to keep the assembly line and support processes working per the lean design.
Ensure daily continuous improvement using QCPC having every work station and quality gate as data collection points
Ensure adherence to quality standards, including process certification, scanning of critical components, quality process audits
Other Functions/Essential Duties :
Works as a change agent and drives out waste in the manufacturing operation through the deployment of Lean methodology.
Drives a continuous improvement culture by involving employees in problem solving and decision making as well as recognizing them for exceptional work.
Develops operational and financial plan and forecasts for the line.
Leads the day-to-day production activities with support areas to ensure that current commitments and goals are achieved while improvements are being made.
Tracks daily performance and ensure counter measures and recovery plans are in place for missed targets. Ensures process center communication boards are being used on a daily basis.
Ensures the highest quality standards are maintained.
Recommends and implements changes regarding production capability, tooling, machine replacement and staffing to support production plans and cost-effective procedures, systems, tooling, equipment, etc., to continually improve manufacturing productivity.
Coordinates and directs activities that respond to customer and market needs through contact with marketing and sales departments.
Participates, monitors and maintains adherence to established departmental budgets, both expense and capital.
Develops open lines of communication to continually monitor employee attitudes and concerns, and implements appropriate actions with input from Human Resources.
Oversees requisitioning, placing, training, directing, appraising, promoting, disciplining, or other actions relating to the manufacturing operations employees.
Ensures the proper application of established employee regulations, policies, wage and salary administration policies, and safety and health regulations.
Assists with developing and implementing current and future state value stream maps and continuous improvement plans.
Provides coaching, information, ideas, feedback and encouragement to associates and management to promote the growth and development of the team on the cell.
Supports new process and product development and implementation.
Assures a clean and safe working environment for all employees, maintaining 5S standards and emphasizing prevention of potential hazardous conditions. Addresses unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Conducts safety training for employees. Reports accidents in a timely manner and participates in accident investigations as required.
Education and Experience:
BA/BS degree w/4+ years experience in manufacturing
5 plus years’ experience in leadership with a preference in manufacturing
Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
Experience envisioning the improved future state and provide direction, plans and practical support to get there
Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to interface & influence effectively at all organizational levels and work effectively in a matrix environment
Self-motivated with strong coaching and mentoring skills. Innovative, dynamic, multi-tasking
Effective, articulate and concise communication - written, verbal and presentation skills
