This position manages a department that includes multiple teams led by managers and/or supervisors of Health and Safety professionals. Owns the execution of long-term strategy and operational direction for the inspection and evaluation of workplace environments, equipment, or practices to achieve and maintain compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

Develops strategies and recommendations on safety and protection, and provides direction for the execution of Health and Safety policies to achieve and maintain a safe workplace and reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages Health and Safety at multiple locations

  • Oversees the inspection or evaluation of workplace environments, equipment, or practices to achieve and maintain compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

  • Oversees the formulation and execution of labor health and safety policies to achieve and maintain a safe workplace and reduce employees’exposure the chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.

  • Recommends and implements corrective actions based on findings in accident investigations and facilities inspections.

  • Orders suspension of activities that pose threats to worker’s health or safety to achieve and maintain workplace safety.

  • Provides direction on safety and protection.

  • Guides in the implementation process of planned programs, services, and quality initiatives.

  • Review recommendations and implements process and product safety features that will reduce employees’exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.

  • Provides oversight and direction to the ergonomic program design.

  • Monitors, administers, evaluates and coordinates company EH&S programs to ensure a safe workplace.

  • Develops and advises employee workplace programs related to emergency response, workers compensation, ergonomics and industrial hygiene.

  • Develops safety-focused activities and policies specifically relating to process safety.

  • Coordinates confirmation of policies and programs in accordance with industry and government regulations.

  • Collaborates across departments to achieve and maintain consistency of health safety program implementation.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in Environmental Health & Science or related field

  • Masters degree preferred

  • 10 years of relevant experience (8 with Graduate degree) in Manufacturing Environmental Health & Science OR related work.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience or

  • Advanced degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience
