Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for experienced engineers in our Military Avionics and Helicopters organization, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This project leadership position (Product Owner) is specifically targeted for Mission FMS product line managing cost, schedule, and budget. The position would be interacting with several of our development teams, comprised of software and system engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-12 people). These projects are focused on the design and development of our new software only products, breaking into new and emerging markets, we are GROWING!

Mission FMS (MFMS-1000) - another of our software only products used for navigation, flight plan management, and guidance; it is deployable on a variety of applications with minimal effort. With recent contract awards, this product is transitioning to the field now and targeted for a variety of applications. Here’s a link to more details specific to MFMS:
This job is unique in that is a project leadership role (Product Owner) with our development teams. Expectations include leading a cross functional team daily and coordinating regularly with engineering and project management to ensure success of the product and program. This includes managing aspects of quality, cost, schedule, and scope while navigating the various team dynamics present.
Other responsibilities and job requirements include:
Demonstrated time management skills - ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work
Demonstrated management of the relationship between cost and value
Succeed while leading in a team environment
Excellent communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
Willingness to travel (domestic and international <20%)
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience in the design and development of deliverable software (production or consumer facing)
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (Classified as a US Person) - U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence (Green Card) is required.
Defense or Aerospace industry experience is preferred
DO-178 or similar certification based development experience is preferred
AGILE development experience is preferred
Project Management, Earned Value, and Risk Management experience is preferred
