Sr. Engineering Scrum Master - Mission Systems

The Collins Aerospace Engineering Applications & Infrastructure Services organization is seeking a Senior Engineering Scrum Master with a passion for problem solving and satisfying customers through the delivery of improvements to the global engineering ecosystem that provide compelling gains to the consistency, efficiency, and productivity of product development efforts across the enterprise.

Job Summary:

  • The qualified individual will provide guidance and coordination to initiatives in our cross-functional, agile environment through the performance of the Scrum Master role.

  • This position is performed with minimal supervision and requires a candidate with a strong customer focus, highly-effective communication skills, a strong bias for action, and the ability to prioritize and advance multiple objectives.

  • Responsible for all phases of engineering projects with high focus toward conforming team efforts to the Agile development methodology, from project inception through completion.

  • Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within project guidelines.

  • Assists Agile teams with project issues for timely resolution, meeting productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Enables cross team collaboration and helps with planning and testing milestones.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline

  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills

  • The ability to coordinate and motivate a team of various job profiles

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented person with the ability to deliver per an agreed to schedule while having the ability to adjust to and help problem solve when schedules/situations change

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency

  • Familiarity with tools such as the Atlassian tool suite (or similar ALM application), Microsoft Office, and Google tools

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • First or second level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, SSM)

  • Experience performing the Scrum Master role for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.

  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games

  • Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach(example: various burndown techniques, various retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)

  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
