This role will report to the Associate Director, HR Business Partner, Avionics Engineering at our Cedar Rapids, IA facility. The position will support engineering leaders by understanding and articulating business needs and translating them into HR strategies and tactics. The position will play a role in managing the implementation of major HR initiatives such as organizational design, talent management, and succession planning. The individual will partner closely with engineering leadership to consult/advise on HR matters and to orchestrate HR services as needed within the business environment.

  • Responsible for building organization and leadership development capabilities through the delivery and evaluation of leadership activities, tools and assessments aligned to the business strategy and operational goals.

  • Joins in partnership with other HR professionals to assess and implement organizational development programs, processes and training initiatives to support organizational strategies and enhance employee engagement.

  • May support needs related to leadership development, succession planning, career development, interpersonal skills and change management training

  • Facilitation of small and/or large group training and organizational development programs

  • Delivery of programs such as new leader orientation, performance excellence and/or organizational development training.

  • Design and deliver team-based interventions/off-sites to promote high performance work culture.

  • Participates in company-wide programs and HR initiative projects.

  • Provides performance consulting to enhance the effectiveness of leaders and teams to increase organizational productivity and internal customer satisfaction.

  • Provides input to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards to enhance the performance and/or learning intervention.

  • Support of the integration to Collins Aerospace

  • Human Resources Acumen - Ability to understand the total HR framework from strategy through implementation; possesses reasonably broad HR domain knowledge in areas such as Leadership Development, Change Management, Employee Effectiveness, Compensation & Recruiting.

  • Influence Stakeholders- Ability to influence executive leadership and HR domains to help achieve business objectives


  • The position requires a candidate with U.S. Citizenship

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Experience in 3 or more of the following:

  • Experience with change management models or projects

  • Experience providing performance consulting

  • Experience in Learning & Development or Organizational Effectiveness

  • Experience facilitating small and/or large group training and organizational development programs

  • Experience providing team-based interventions to promote a high performance work culture

  • Experience with coaching and collaborating with executive leaders on complex HR issues

  • Experience with conflict resolution in the work environment and mediating between parties
