Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Sr. Systems Engineer in our Mission Systems Ground & Weapons SATNAV Systems department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are the premier provider of military positioning, navigation and timing solutions. This position will lead projects specifically supporting our Modernized Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) products.
Our team is looking for a new member interested in solving complex problems and creatively designing advanced and alternative navigation systems. This individual will execute systems engineering design and development of PNT products and coordinate regularly with engineering and program management to ensure the success of the project. This will include the following primary responsibilities:
Executes objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects.
Monitors the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and recommend modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.
Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, modeling, and test.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk assessment.
Considers and evaluates alternatives accounting for similar metrics.
Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Experience with systems tools (DOORS, Python, JAMA, JIRA, etc.)
Time management skills - ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work
Effectively interact and build trust with team members from many different backgrounds, including engineering management, engineering teams, program management, and operations
Effective communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
Willingness to travel (domestic <10%)

Must excel working in a team environment and establishing collaborative relationships with coworkers.
Well organized and able to communicate effectively with team members, leadership, and customers.
Must have the desire to participate on a results-oriented engineering team, be highly motivated, and be self-directed.
Understanding and familiarity with DO-254 and DO-178 certification
Knowledge of or experience with Lean-Agile principles and Agile Teams.
Hands on experience with PNT solutions is preferred.
Must Have Requirements:
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (US Citizenship required)
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience
